베데스다 중독증회복 지원그룹 - 12 단계
     (Bethesda Addiction Support Group - 12 Steps)

중독증 회복은 중독자의 거부반응과 부정직성, 그리고 가족들의 수치심과 두려움 등으로 “정상적인 치유방법”을 적용하기가 어렵다. 그래서 아무리 중독 충동을 완화시켜 줄 의약품들이 연구되고, 탁월한 1:1 상담 치유기법이 개발되어도, 극소수가 이를 시도해 볼 수는 있어도, 대부분 중독가정들은 이용하기가 힘든 실정이다.

중독자들과 가족들이 그들의 회복에 가장 많이 적용하는 치유이론은 "미국 알코올 회복모임의 12단계 원리(AA 12 Steps)" 이며, 중독증 치유에 경험이 있는 상담자들은 상담과 병행해서 12단계 회복참여를 권고하는 것은 물론 법원 판사들도 중독문제가 있는 범법자들을 의무적으로 12단계 그룹회복모임에 참석할 것을 판시 할 정도로 1935년부터 그 치유효과가 인정되어왔다.

LA에 위치한 한인 중독증회복 선교센터에서는 AA World Service, Inc 으로부터 2010년 8월 25일에 "베데스다 중독증회복 지원그룹(Bethesda Addiction Support Group - Hae Wang Lee)" 명의로 "12단계 복제 및 각색 허락(Permission to reprint and adapt 12 Steps)"을 받고, 회복 1단계와 12번째 단계 내용에 알코올은 물론 "도박, 마약, 인터넷, 성, 게임, 음식, 흡연, 쇼핑, 도벽, 우울, 다른 사람, 기타 중독 패턴"을 더 추가해서 한인 가정과 사회의 모든 중독증 치유에 AA 12단계 원리를 각색해서 다음과 같이 한인 중독증회복 선교센터의 "베데스다 중독증회복 지원그룹(Bedesda Addiction Support Group)"에서 실시하는 모든 Offline 회복모임과 online 회복모임에 공식 치유프로그램으로 적용하게 되었음을 공지합니다.

▶ The Original 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous

Step 1	We admitted we were powerless over alcohol - that our lives have become unmanageable.
Step 2	Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
Step 3	Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God, as we understood Him.
Step 4	Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
Step 5	Admitted to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
Step 6	Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
Step 7	Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.
Step 8	Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
Step 9	Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
Step 10	Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it.
Step 11	Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
Step 12	Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

▶ The Adapted Version of AA 12 Steps

1 단계	We admitted we were powerless over addiction - alcohol, gamble, drug, internet, sex, games, overeating, smoking, shopping, depression, other person, or other compulsive pattern - that our lives have become unmanageable. 우리는 중독증 - 알코올, 도박, 마약, 인터넷, 성, 게임, 음식, 흡연, 쇼핑, 도벽, 우울, 다른 사람, 또는 기타 중독적인 패턴 - 에 무기력했으며, 우리의 삶을 정상적으로 살지 못하였음을 깨닫고 시인 합니다.
2 단계	Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. 우리보다 더 위대하신 힘이 우리의 마음과 삶을 정상적으로 돌아오게 해 주실 수 있다고 믿습니다.
3 단계	Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God, as we understood Him. 우리가 아는 위대한 힘의 돌보심에 우리자신의 의지와 삶을 완전히 맡기기로 결심 합니다.
4 단계	Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. 두려움 없이 우리자신의 도덕적 재고조사를 합니다.
5 단계	Admitted to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs. 우리의 잘못된 사실들을 하나님, 우리자신, 그리고 다른 사람에게 시인합니다.
6 단계	Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character. 하나님께서 모든 성격상 결점들을 없애주실 모든 준비를 합니다.
7 단계	Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings. 겸허히 하나님께 우리의 결점들을 없애주시도록 간청합니다.
8 단계	Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all. 우리가 피해를 준 모든 사람들의 명단을 작성하여 그들 모두에게 기꺼이 보상할 마음을 가집니다.
9 단계	Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others. 직접 보상하는 것이 그들 또는 다른 사람들에게 상처가 될 경우를 제외하고는 가능한 어디에서나 직접 보상 합니다.
10 단계	Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it. 계속 우리자신을 점검해 나아가며 잘못이 있었을 때는 즉시 시인 합니다.
11 단계	Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out. 기도와 명상을 통하여 의식적으로 우리가 아는 하나님과 더욱 가까워지도록 힘쓰며, 오직 우리를 위한 하나님의 뜻을 깨닫고, 그 뜻을 실행할 능력을 구하는 기도를 합니다.
12 단계	Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps, we tried to carry this message to other addicts and their families - alcohol, gamble, drug, internet, sex, game, overeating, smoking, shopping, shoplifting, depression, other person, or other compulsive pattern - and to practice these principles in all our affairs. 이전 회복단계들의 결과로 영적으로 각성되었으므로 - 알코올, 도박, 마약, 인터넷, 성, 게임, 음식, 흡연, 쇼핑, 도벽, 우울, 다른 사람, 또는 기타 중독 패턴 - 으로 고통 받는 다른 중독자들과 그 가족들에게 이 회복 메시지를 전하도록 힘쓰며, 우리 삶의 모든 영역에서 이 원칙들을 실천하도록 노력합니다.
